What is Axe Throwing?
The AXE: from work tool, to weapon, up to sports equipment.
Axe Throwing is currently practiced in many countries: Italy, France, Germany, England, Sweden, Canada, Ireland, etc. but it is still a fairly niche sport.
Birth and transformation in a sport:
Literally "axe throwing" or dark, born in Sweden, Canada and the United States of America. This, for what 'concerns the two-person (the double-blade axe). Here, the loggers, being often isolated for many months by the rest of the population and having a few leisures, began to throw axes against targets built by them with simple slices of logs. While at the time, it had a double use both as a work and leisure tool, in our days the two-pin is simply used as a sports tool. With some exceptions of "aficionados"; today the faster and less tiring chainsaw is preferred.
Over the years then, sport has naturally improved and currently still consists, in throwing an axe against a target, but now there are real well-defined rules. The target has 5 concentric circles of precise measurements, with a measurement of 45 cm. Not long after the decision to make the First World Championship, it was decided to keep for all (something that was not so before) a target measuring 45 cm, regular international measures.
We use axes from Sweden and Germany, as well as from a Swiss smith, specially forged for sports use, as they are better balanced and that fall within the standard rules on competition axes, for what concerns: weight, blade length and length of the handle. for more information see here: Our axes.
Everyone then tends to use their own, not for selfishness but because only by getting used to your / your own, you will acquire over time a greater mastery of the tool, thus improving in the launch.
